Mortal Kombat (2011) has sold nearly three million copies since the game was launched back in April. In 2009 Midway went bankrupt and liquidated their assets and Mortal Kombat was picked by Warner Bros but nobody really knew what changes were going to be made. Would the Midway Chicago staff be kept? Would the gameplay still be the same since it has been since Deadly Alliance? Last year at E3 we got the first glance of Mortal Kombat under Warner Bros who decided to keep the Midway staff under the new name of NetherRealm Studios. The game was met with much hype and around April 2011, fans and critics agreed that the new game returned the troubled franchise to it’s former glory. Mortal Kombat has outsold it’s competitors such as Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3 despite arriving last on the market. Congratulations to NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros.
