Happy Halloween!

DMK just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween! We also wanted to take this time and apologize to all of our fans and members as DMK’s main site and community have been pretty much dead the past several months. With that being said, DMK is not dying nor are we closing down our doors anytime soon. We will be undergoing several significant changes over the next couple of months to improve DMK. Here’s a summary of what you should expect to see in the coming months:

  • The change we’re most excited about internally at DMK is the implementation of a new back-end framework. The design on the main site won’t change much, but all of the design bugs and issues will be fixed with this new framework. Additionally, the framework has state of the art code and smart design architecture meaning search engines will find DMK easier and provide a secure foundation going forward. We’re hoping to roll this out sometime in November.
  • DMK will have in-depth coverage of NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us due out in April 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. Although not part of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Injustice is built upon the foundation of Mortal Kombat by our favorite video game developer so coverage of the game is warranted.
  • In the same vein, we will be covering Kevin Tancharoen’s upcoming Mortal Kombat film and if applicable the second season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Not much is known yet about the Mortal Kombat film beyond Warner Bros. commissioning it and giving it a budget rumored at $40,000,000. And according to inside sources (*coughWBsWikipediaPagecough*), the film currently has a release date set for August 16, 2013. However, there hasn’t been much released from Warner Bros. yet and the film could remain in development hell for another 15 years (Thanks Threshold!) I tend to believe the film will be made, with the scripts written for season two of “Legacy” being re-worked into a feature film. With Disney acquiring Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise yesterday (and with their plans to milk that franchise until every fan boy has died of depression) Warner Bros. now needs to put all of its eggs in a basket with its licensed franchises (DC, The Hobbit, Mortal Kombat).
  • Finally, DMK will be adding all of our game guides during the next several months. Yes – we are aware that we may be 18 months (or 20 years) too late, but better late than never. A game guide for Injustice: Gods Among Us will follow in April when the game is released.
